Music I Like

Music And Me

It was Elementary school when I first started to explore the world of music on my own. From the car radio and parents CD’s I knew I wasn’t a huge fan of the same music they like’d but because I also didn’t know how to access other music at the time I was essentially stuck listening to their music. However, this would change once I got my first phone in the fifth grade. No longer did I have to bare car trips listening to music I couldn’t control, now I was in control of the music that graced my ears. 2015 was the year my music journey started, this year some iconic albums would drop that lead to me bear witness to history. Albums like:

To name a few. For me Hip-Hop was the first genre I gravitated too because at the time it was very popular at the time and as a young kid I wanted to fit in so obviously I had to know Hotling bling word for word, seen Steph Curry mixtapes to Flo Rida’s My House, and hear Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen all over social media (which I had secretly from my parents cause I was 11 at the time and didn’t have permission to get on social media till I was in Middle School).

Middle School & Onward

Once I arrived in Middle School was when I started to diverge from trends and the popular opinion, yes I still stayed taped in to artist who where popular at the time but I also started listening to artist at the time who I didn’t would become some of my favorite and I would be able to witness their careers sprout. Artist like XXXTentacion, Lil Peep, Juice Wrld, Travis Scott, Tyler, The Creator, Lil Uzi Vert, and Playboi Carti would carry me through Middle School. During this time I would also explore different types of genre as well like alternative rock and nu metal. Linkin Park, Twenty One Pilots, Limp Bizkit, Metalica, and Nirvana for starters.

Highschool

In High school everything was different, nobody cared what music you listened to anymore; because everyone has their favorites, everyone has their favorite genre. Everyone has there air pods in listening to their music unbothered. This meant nobody cared what you listened too. This lead to me to have a more open mind when it came to listening to music because only I could hear what I was listening to. Now for me I have ADHD, and Im hyperactive, I like upbeat, loud, bass boosted, chaotic, stuff. This meant that if any song, from any genre meet my requirements I liked it. This lead me to discover some new favorites like Yeat (yes this is a real artist), Lucki, Ken Carson, Destroy lonely, Nettspend, Xaviersobased, Osamason, Che, Protect, Prettifun. This also allowed me to dive into other genres besides hip-hop, rap, rock, and metal. New genres I introduced into my musical platter is Electronic/EDM, and Hyperpop. Notable artist I frequently enjoy from these genres are:
